Boys & Girls Club of Mount Vernon Plans $28M to $30M New Facility
The Boys & Girls Club of Mount Vernon is moving forward with plans for a new facility estimated to cost between $28 million and $30 million, representing a significant investment in youth services and community infrastructure in the city.
The proposed development would replace the organization’s longtime facility and provide a modern space designed to accommodate expanded programming and serve future generations of Mount Vernon residents.
The project comes as Mount Vernon continues to see substantial public and private investment, including new housing and development projects throughout the city. The Boys & Girls Club has been part of the Mount Vernon community since 1912 and currently serves more than 1,400 young people through educational, recreational and youth development programs.
Plans for a new facility have been developing for several years. The organization has been pursuing a capital campaign to support a new center and expand its ability to provide programs and opportunities for local youth.
The investment also comes amid broader development activity in Mount Vernon. In August, officials celebrated the topping off of QWest Towers, a $158 million workforce housing development that will bring 228 affordable rental units to the city.
For Mount Vernon, the proposed Boys & Girls Club project represents another investment in the physical and social infrastructure that supports a growing community.
