Walmart Fulfillment Center in Orange County Advances with Construction Labor Agreement

Plans for a major Walmart fulfillment center in the Town of Wallkill have reached another milestone following the signing of a project labor agreement between the developer and the Hudson Valley Building Trades Council.
The proposed facility, located near Route 17K and Stone School House Road along the Orange County and Sullivan County border, represents an estimated $1.6 billion to $1.8 billion in private investment.
According to plans submitted to the Town of Wallkill, the development would include approximately 1.5 million square feet of warehouse and distribution space, along with truck parking, loading facilities and supporting infrastructure.
Todd Diorio, president of the Hudson Valley Building Trades Council and business manager of Laborers Local 17, confirmed the agreement, which is expected to provide hundreds of construction jobs for regional union workers.
The project could also generate up to 1,500 permanent jobs when fully operational, according to earlier reports from regional economic development officials.
Walmart has owned property in the area for several years and is pursuing approvals for the development. The company has indicated that it hopes to begin construction in 2027.
The proposed fulfillment center represents a significant potential expansion of industrial and logistics activity in Orange County, reinforcing the region's position as a destination for large-scale distribution and commercial investment.
