Bronx and Manhattan Borough Presidents join industry and state leaders to discuss fair housing, policy, and the realities shaping housing access today

HGAR will bring together some of the most influential voices in real estate, government, and community leadership for its Fair Housing Month Summit on April 27, a half-day program designed to address one of the most critical issues facing our industry today. The opening plenary panel, Fair Housing Today — Responsibilities & Realities, will set the tone for a meaningful and timely conversation on the role real estate professionals play in advancing equitable housing access.

This high-caliber panel features Maurice “Russell” Grey, CEO and Principal Broker of ESRA Realty, Senator Nathalia Fernandez of the New York 34th Senate District, Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson, and Manhattan Borough President Brad Hoylman-Sigal. Together, these leaders bring a powerful mix of industry expertise, legislative insight, and community perspective, offering attendees a unique opportunity to hear directly from those shaping housing policy and practice across the region.

The discussion will focus on the real challenges impacting housing today, including compliance with evolving fair housing laws, source-of-income protections, disability rights and accommodations, and the barriers facing first-time homebuyers. Panelists will also address the implications of new housing legislation and what it means for brokers, agents, and consumers navigating an increasingly complex market.

The HGAR Fair Housing Month Summit is designed to provide practical, actionable guidance for real estate professionals, community stakeholders, and housing advocates. In addition to the plenary panel, the program will feature a keynote presentation and interactive breakout sessions that equip attendees with the tools to strengthen compliance, manage risk, and build trust with the communities they serve.

“Fair housing is not just a regulatory requirement, it is a shared responsibility across our industry and our communities,” said Dr. Jermaine Meadows, Bronx and Manhattan Government Affairs Director for HGAR. “Bringing together leaders from government and real estate creates an important opportunity to align on solutions, increase awareness, and ensure we are moving forward in a way that expands access and opportunity for all.”

Join us on April 27 to be part of this important conversation and gain the insights needed to lead with knowledge, accountability, and impact. Get details HERE .
